We all envy eloquent leaders. They speak and the room moves — most times into action, but sometimes into silence.
Sometimes people listen to the inspiring address on that new idea we shared on the Google Meet call and it's so well put and strongly worded that they don't feel it can use any possible contribution from their 'timid' voices.
Hence inspiring leaders must realize how their gift can unintentionally send people into corners of silence. This means making more effort not only to be open to feedback, but to actively seek it, since inspiring speeches mostly sound like nothing else should be added or removed.
This is something I have been reflecting on lately. What are people keeping quiet about because I made it sound so perfect?
👩🏾🦱 Someone to follow on the internet today: Morenike Olusanya (super-amazing woman inspiring a new generation of visual artists while loving humanity and living to the fullest).
🎶 Music recommendation for the morning: Orphans by Coldplay.
This is something I’ve been working on intentionally. Being eloquent is great but not enough, what kind of impact am I making? This a great question to ask yourself as you prepare to speak in front of that crowd or small gathering. Thank you for this piece Fá
